Market Feature: Pure Honey Co.
Have you heard the buzz about Pure Honey Company at the Chico Certified Farmers’ Market? We got to chat with Dana Freeman, one member of the family team that owns and operates Pure Honey Co., to learn a little more about this sweet little business. Dana, her husband, and her kids do everything themselves, keeping 400 hives (!) in Chico and Alturas, California. They have been keeping bees for about six years, and, luckily for us, are in their second year of selling honey.
Dana’s Husband is detective for the Sheriff’s Department, and after investigating a case of stolen bee hives, he became fascinated in bees and starting bee keeping as a hobby with his family. They grew to love beekeeping, and eventual grew their passion into a business! They now offer pollination services for local almond and cherry orchards, and sell their honey and other products on the side on the side at the Chico Farmer’s Market!
Chico Honey Co. offers wildflower, clover, and alfalfa honey, as well as bee pollen, beeswax, and honey sticks. Starting next week, they’ll be offering creamed honey for the holiday season! Don’t miss out on these local sweet treats this Saturday and the Chico Certified Farmers’ Market!
