Farmer Feature: Gold Roots Farm

The local farming (and market) world continues to grow as we welcome Gold Roots Farm to our community! Located just outside of Corning, owners and farmers Kevin and Aimee are in their first season at the Chico Certified Farmers’ Market. Starting as WWOOF-ers (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) in Italy, these two have a passion for farming. After WWOOF-ing in Italy, they lived in Hawaii for four years, learning as much as possible from a master cactus and succulent gardener and farming produce for their community. With their extended farming knowledge came a growing desire to bring great, safe produce to others around them.

After moving back to California to be close to family, they decided to continue to pursue their dream of having a farmers’ market-centric garden and farm. They love nutrient dense produce and aim to be a cut above standardized farming, growing things the way they would like to eat them – with safe practices above all.

You can find Gold Roots Farm year round at the Wednesday Farmers’ Market! Look for all kinds of local produce, now featuring heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeños, strawberries, radishes, green beans, lettuces, and more! Keep an eye out for their upcoming online ordering (where you can pick up your pre-placed order at the market!) and their pre-packaged produce kits – think everything you need for salsa in one bag!
