Farmer Feature: Nickler Acres

Nickler Acres is a small family farm located in Gerber, CA. Run by farmers Mindy and Keith Nickler, they strive to provide healthy, high quality farm products to the local community using the most sustainable methods possible.

They started at the Chico Certified Farmers’ Market with their certified organic eggs we’ve come to know and love, but they now additionally offer a huge variety of microgreens! Their variety of sprouts and shoots includes buckwheat, sunflower shoots, upland cress, broccoli, a mild mix of kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, mizuna, pea shoots, and more!

While microgreens are grown widely for gourmet markets and restaurants, what’s important to Nickler Acres is their nutritional value. Microgreens are nutrient dense and oh so versatile. While they are most nutritious raw, they are also tasty when lightly cooked – and they look pretty as all get-out on top of nearly anything!

Nickles Acres has their microgreens and eggs available year round at both the Wednesday and Saturday Farmers’ Market, as well as some seasonal fruit options, including figs!
