Baker Feature: Near & Dear Baked Goods

Local, organic, vegan. That is the mantra of Near & Dear Baked Goods, and boy, do they sure walk the walk! 

Or I should say, she does. Owner and baker, Sydney, started Near & Dear solo and has been at the Wednesday market for about five months – starting last week she  has officially joined the Saturday Morning Market!

Sydney attributes her love of baking and passion for farm to table to her roots: she spent much time working for the GRUB farm, and grew up with houseful of women who were all cooks and bakers. Her passion for baking and organic, local ingredients morphed into a business when she started making pastries for Blackbird Cafe three years ago.  

Near & Dear offers a plethora of treats from sweet to savory, and quite a bit in between, but they are best know for their poptarts and donuts! Sydney offers a truly unique product – Completely vegan pastries that are creative, with delicate flavor combinations that wax poetic about their rustic, local roots. Cute, colorful, and charming, these creations that are both playful and addicting! 

All pastries from Near & Dear are vegan and are made from local, organic, and ethically sourced ingredients. All cheezes, buttrs, and mylks are made in house – no strange ingredients or substitutes in the these vegans treats – everything is made from scratch!

Near & Dear has been well received by the community and has been a staple in the Chico pastry scene. Come down the market soon and get a tasty treat from Sydney at Near & Dear!
