Farmer Feature: Dobis-Beach Oranges are Back!
Orangeyouglad it’s still citrus season? So are we! Especially with friendly, seasonal farmers Jolan Dobis and Jeff Beach around! The wife and husband duo of Dobis-Beach Oranges farm a 94 year old orchard located in Oroville, California and have been at the Chico Saturday Farmers’ Market for eleven years! The orchard itself was planted in 1927 (wow!) and the oranges were inherited by Jolan and Jeff when they purchased the farm, keeping them full of quality and deliciousness to this day!
While Dobis-Beach produces Meyer lemons as well, the Washington Navel oranges are the real star of the show. Children say their fruit “tastes like candy” because of how consistently super sweet and delicious it is. And they couldn’t get any fresher, either! Jolan and Jeff love being at the market every season. Because of their long standing yearly appearance at the market, they have developed a close relationship with the community, making many local friends and even watching children grow! “We enjoy everyone of our customers. Some have become family,” says Jolan.
Dobis-Beach is here now until around the first part of April and Chico Certified Farmers’ Market is the only market where you can find Dobis-Beach oranges, so make sure to get your hands on some of the sweetest, juiciest oranges around while you can!
