Farmer Feature: Heartbeat Farm
This Saturday, meet Neddy and Jessie, owners of Heartbeat Farm!
Neddy and Jessie bought a preexisting farm and moved up to Paradise from the bay, hoping to dive into sustainable farming and agriculture from their community farming backgound – something they are clearly passionate about – only to find themselves having to relocate and rebuild after the devastating wild fire. They are now located on five acres in Corning and back at it, determined to bring the Chico Certified Farmers’ Market the absolute freshest produce they can!
This is Heartbeat Farm’s third season with Chico Certified Farmers’ Market. They recently joined the Saturday market, bringing with them year round organic produce grown with with sustainable practices and a finger on the pulse of future agriculture.
Heatbeat Farm describes themselves as a small farm just making it happen – with a goal of feeding people as cheaply as possible with organic and sustainably grown veggies. They farm with the seasons to bring as much as possible to the community and are working hard to expand their new farm.
Right now you can find red and golden beets, cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, a variety of summer squash, kale, chard, eggplants, and tomatoes. In the future look for specialty tomatoes, a huge variety of peppers, and so much more from the this little farm that could. Visit them this Saturday to meet some local farmer’s full of heart!
