The Incredible Edible (Local) Egg!
| Eggs are the best, especially when they’re local! Luckily for us, the Chico Certified Farmers’ Market has several egg farmers providing us with fresh local eggs all year!All of our farmers have a special egg handling license from the State, ensuring that every market-goer is getting safe, quality eggs! Speaking of quality, did you know that farm fresh eggs are considered to be of greater nutritional value? This is largely due to the difference in diet and lifestyle. Chickens are more naturally inclined and proven to be healthier when able to forage for themselves and participate in normal chicken activities, such as dust bathing and nightly roosting. Farm fresh eggs also tend to last longer than store bought (as store bought eggs can sit on the shelf for up to 30 days before even purchased!), AND, they’re prettier! Farm fresh eggs have a fuller yolk and a firmer white. If you’re buying farm fresh eggs, you can bet the hens laying them are happy and healthy!
