How You Can Show Local Support (From a Distance!)
In an effort to keep you, our community, the most up to date with our markets, makers, and farmers, here is some of the info we shared last week, along with some additional info about the status of our non-food vendors, and how you can continue to support them!
In these uncertain times, we would like to inform our followers that the Chico Farmers Market will continue to be open. The Chico Farmers Market has always provided clean, safe, local food and is here for our loyal customers.
The Market is in touch with the City of Chico and the Butte County Department of Public Health and has implemented its guidelines to ensure that we have a healthy and safe market.
What is CCFM doing for the market?
Disposable gloves are available to shoppers
You’ll notice an extra hand-washing stations throughout the market
Booths are spaced 6 feet apart to ensure that we practice social distancing
We are sanitizing the porta-potty and hand-washing stations regularly
There will be no samples available at the market
There are no tables available to eat at the market
We are asking the pop-up musicians to take a break for a bit
Bike parking will be on your own (Chico Velo will not be at the Sat market)
We’ll try to pre-bag veggies when possible
What can you do as a friend of the market?
If you are not feeling well, then please ask a friend or family member to shop for you so you can stay home to minimize exposure while you rest and heal
If you notice the booth is crowded, then practice social-distancing and wait patiently until the booth has fewer people
Try not to linger at the market – shop and go!
Wash your produce when you get home
Promote the market with friends and neighbors on social media so that all know we are open!
Please continue to support your local farmers market knowing that we are taking these extra precautions to provide you with healthy, safe foods and an open-air environment to shop. Below is a list of some of our vendors who can be contacted directly for orders.
There are a lot of reasons to shop here: you support local farms and businesses, produce sold here has been handled far less than at a grocery store, and you get the freshest & most nutritious seasonal food! We’ll be here, welcoming you with warm smiles and friendly gestures (no handshaking, please)!
Please note that our non-food vendors (crafts, etc.) have taken a temporarily leave from the market. Please contact them directly with any questions or orders.
