Farmer Feature: Noble Orchards

By 19 August 2022

Welcome back to Noble Orchards!

If you’re from the area, you’re probably already familiar with Noble Orchards. Laurie Noble has been in the apple business for some time (her husband started selling apples with Farmers’ Market when it first started) and the farm has been growing fruit in Paradise, CA since 1921!  Growing a variety of both peaches and apples, you can expect them to be juicy, sweet, and tried and true.

Tragically, Noble Orchards lost all it’s structures during the Camp Fire – but not their trees. Because of the lack of cold storage available, the farm lost a huge amount of their Gala last year. Determined not to let them go to waste this year, they are bouncing back with a new plan that benefits the community! With the help of volunteers, they plan to pick, sort, and pack any excess apples and then ship them to fire victims around the north state. As innovative and resilient as ever, Noble Orchards us finding new ways to operate and continue to share their legendary fruit with the community!

You can find Noble Orchard at the Saturday and Monday Chico Certified Farmers’ Market from (roughly) July to April – with apples making their appearance in September! Look out for them at Jonny Appleseed Days (naturally), and keep an eye open for the upcoming sale of bushels.

If you’d like to volunteer some early morning orchard work, you can find their phone number on their Facebook – or just check out the farm’s page to learn more!
