Farmer Feature: Pine Creek Flowers

By 6 January 2023

The New Year brings a fresh start, and what better way to celebrate that than with some fresh blooms? Pine Creek Flowers is well-known at the market for the gorgeous local bouquets they sell, but at this time of year, they peddle something a little different: bulbs! All through winter Pine Creek Flowers offers a wide variety of flowering bulbs and plants for your garden, switching to cut flowers again in the spring. You can find them at both the Saturday and Wednesday markets.

A little background on Pine Creek Flowers:

The two-acre farm is run by husband and wife team Craig and Emma right here in Chico. While they aren’t certified organic, they do follow all the standards and practices required for certification. Their little farm plays host to a wide variety of local wildlife, so they never use chemicals. They also ensure soil health by planting seasonal cover crops and by brewing their own compost tea, with most of this work being done entirely by hand. The result: beautiful, long-lasting blooms. Speaking of blooms, they make an effort to grow a wide variety of unique flowers that changes from year to year. This way you can always expect to find something different each time you visit them at the market.

Producing flowers isn’t the only thing Pine Creek Flowers does. They grow pumpkins in the fall and offer on-farm events such as flower picking during dahlia season. They’re also an incredible wedding venue, offering both the space AND floral arrangements for your big day.
