Non-Profit Participation Guidelines at Chico Certified Farmers Market
Non-profit organizations may participate in the Chico Certified Farmers Market (CCFM) upon approval from CCFM Board of Directors. Each non-profit is asked to limit their participation to no more than two times per month for each market. Please request the dates you would like to participate in, and the Operations Manager will review, and schedule based on space available. Once approved for your requested dates, invoices will be sent out, and your dates reserved upon payment received.
Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status via email. Once you have been approved, you will be required to create an account and log in to our vendor portal. This is how you will receive scheduling confirmations and invoices will be sent and paid.
Rules and Requirements for Non-Profits
- Stall fees are set at a flat rate of $40 per market. An invoice will be sent out upon scheduling confirmation and payment is due upon invoicing to secure your scheduled stall space. Payments can be made via the vendor portal, or by phone at (530) 893-3276. Payment reserves your stall space for the market date you have been approved for, and all applicable rules must be followed. Failure to pay will result in removal from the approved Non-profit list.
- Reselling products within the market is strictly prohibited. However, with prior approval from CCFM, non-profit organizations may sell branded items such as tote bags with logos, self-published calendars, raffle tickets, or other similar products. These items must support the organization’s fundraising efforts and must not compete with goods offered by CCFM members or the market itself.
- Regardless of whether fundraising items are sold, non-profits are exempt from CCFM’s $100 annual membership fee and are not granted voting membership status at CCFM.
- Each organization is responsible for providing its own canopy, tables, chairs, and signage. Clear and identifiable signage is required, and visually appealing booth displays are highly encouraged. All set-up and tear-down activities must be completed independently without assistance from the market manager.
- Solicitation outside of the assigned booth space is not allowed. Representatives must not approach customers in communal walkways or at other vendors’ booths and may only distribute information related to the approved purpose.
- Non-profit participants are required to arrive at the market location no later than 7:00 AM, be fully set up in their assigned space by 7:30 AM and vacate the premises within one hour after the market’s published end time. Early departures are not permitted under any circumstances.
- Volunteers and all representatives associated with non-profit must comply with CCFM’s parking rules, parking at least two blocks away to ensure ample parking is available for customers.
Standards of Conduct
Non-Profits who do not comply with these standards of conduct may be subject to removal from CCFM Markets indefinitely.
- Nonprofits shall be honest and shall always conduct themselves in a courteous and business-like manner. Rude, abusive, or other disruptive or offensive conduct is not permitted.
- Conduct that is materially and seriously prejudicial to the reputation or operation of the Market is not permitted.
- Nonprofits experiencing any difficulty with customers or other sellers in this regard should refer the matter promptly to the Market Manager.
- The drinking of alcoholic beverages is not permitted during Market hours. Smoking and vaporizing (e cigarettes) are not permitted in the market or any of the stall spaces.
Agreement and Acceptance
By reading and understanding the above rules, we hereby request permission to exhibit at the Chico Certified Farmers Market. We acknowledge that we have read the CCFM Rules and Regulations, which are available at the Market Manager’s booth, and we agree to comply with all guidelines, as well as to cooperate fully with the Board of Directors, Market Manager, and staff. We also understand that failure to adhere to these rules may result in dismissal from the market. The CCFM Board of Directors has sole discretion regarding limitations or denials of participation, and such decisions may occur at any time. The Market Manager is authorized by the Board to enforce all rules.
